Over the weekend, OpenAI board made a shocking move by firing Sam Altman and replacing him wih CTO Mira Murati on Friday.

This shocked everyone, because Sam Altman created OpenAI out of nothing to 80 Billion in shareholder value. He is arguably the best CEO in the past 2 decades based on value creation.

Breaking news 2: OpenAI team gets mad and restarts a rebellion

Amidst Altman's sudden departure, emotions flared within OpenAI and 750 out of 771 employees decided to quit right away. Research Scientist Shengjia Zhao criticized board member Ilya on Twitter, accusing him of ego and power hunger without evidence.

Andrej Karpathy (AI scientist) echoed the same sentiment and asked for explanation from the board.

1. Amidst negotiations for Altman's return, the board faced reluctance and opted to hire a new CEO. The unexpected turn continued with the appointment of Emmett Shear, Twitch cofounder, as the new interim CEO.

2. In a surprising twist, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella came out and revealed that Altman, Brockman, and their colleagues have joined Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team.
