Israel is reportedly using AI ‘quietly’ for militarily intelligence.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are reportedly using artificial intelligence (AI) to aid in target selection for air strikes and manage logistics during wartime.
The AI recommendation system analyzes vast amounts of data to assist in these operations.
Another AI model, the Fire Factory, swiftly assembles subsequent raids by calculating munition loads, prioritizing targets, and proposing a schedule based on military-approved data.
Despite human operators overseeing and approving individual targets and air raid plans, the technology used in these systems lacks international or state-level regulation.
The IDF has extensively employed AI and has increasingly implemented these systems in various units to establish itself as a global leader in autonomous weaponry.
Critics caution against the potential hazards associated with an increasing reliance on autonomous systems, highlighting the potentially deadly consequences.
However, supporters argue that advanced algorithms have the potential to outperform human capabilities and assist in minimizing casualties.
27% of jobs at high risk from AI revolution, says OECD
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has reported that over a quarter of jobs within its 38-member bloc could be easily automated due to the upcoming artificial intelligence (AI) revolution.
The jobs at the highest risk are those that use more than 25 of the 100 skills and abilities that AI experts believe can be easily automated. These jobs make up 27% of the labor force in OECD countries, with Eastern European countries being the most exposed.
Despite the potential risks, two-thirds of workers already working with AI reported that automation made their jobs less dangerous or tedious.
The OECD emphasizes the need for governments to help workers prepare for these changes and ensure that workers' rights are not compromised.
