Microsoft accidently shares 38TB of data! This is INSANE😲

Here's a bit of a head-turner from Microsoft's AI research team. While they were trying to do a good thing by sharing open-source training data on GitHub, they accidentally spilled the beans on a whopping 38 terabytes of private data. Yup, you read that right! 😲😲

This accidental reveal includes some pretty sensitive stuff like secrets, private keys, passwords, and a treasure trove of over 30,000 internal Microsoft Teams messages.

Now, they were using an Azure feature called SAS tokens to share the data, which is supposed to be all about selective file sharing. But, oops, the link ended up exposing the entire storage account, doubling down on the trouble.

With more engineers handling massive amounts of data for their AI projects, there's a pressing need for beefed-up security checks and safeguards to keep things under wraps.

In the UK, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has outlined new principles for regulating large AI models like ChatGPT. Their focus is on accountability, preventing Big Tech dominance, and ensuring access.📱📱

Here's the scoop: These principles are designed to maximize AI benefits across the board, not just for the big players. They touch on developer accountability, interoperability, anti-competitive behavior prevention, and access to AI models.

These principles will guide the UK as it gains new regulatory powers, with a November AI safety summit in Berlin on the horizon.

Why does this matter? Well, the UK's AI regulations could set a global example. Will this spur the US to take faster action on AI regulation? It's a story worth watching!

Is AGI Overrated OR Underrated?🤔💭

Creators of a groundbreaking technology are facing a classic dilemma: their creation could either lead to utopia or spell disaster.

Enter AGI, or Artificial General Intelligence. Current AI excels in specialized tasks, like copywriting, while AGI possesses general intelligence, capable of handling nearly anything independently.

However, fears linger that AGI might go rogue, echoing the likes of HAL 9000 from Space Odyssey. Prominent figures like Geoffrey Hinton and Sam Altman warn of AI-induced extinction, with Elon Musk even calling for a timeout on AI development.

Though Nvidia dismisses uncontrollable AGI as science fiction, the tech community remains cautiously optimistic, recognizing AI's potential for both advancement and risk. For now, AGI isn't an immediate concern. So, go enjoy life, share some love with your folks, and relax! 😊
